Jazz Trumpet Transcription- White Blues, Chet Baker

There’s a great sense of melodic development in Chet’s playing in this solo, as always. Notice how he often uses altered tensions on the G7 chord in bar 10 of the chorus, followed by the ascending fourth, G to C in the next bar. Varying the approaching phrase and rhythm gives the solo forward momentum while remaining recognisable each time.

This instrumental track can be found on the compilation album White Blues (1997).
